Was fortunate to find this coin online before the Year of the Dog turned into the Year of the Pig, for our granddaughter born just before the change!

I purchase based on what I like. Price is a concern but not primarily. Love the crossover from Chinese to Canadian cultures. Like the Chinese Zodiac reference. The coin is lovely.

Hello and thank you for asking. This coin is no longer available through the Mint, we suggest inquiring with coin dealers.

I am interested in collecting RCM silver and gold coins, some for collection and some to make it a pendant. Wonder if those coins will get oxidized over time if: -kept in the box as is, and -used as a pendant? What is the best way to keep its BU condition just in case I'll sell it to another collector? Thanks,

Black Rose

Hello and thank you for asking. Please note that it is normal for a coin to tarnish over the years. While a coin may tarnish, it does not affect the value of the coin. According to the Coins of Canada by J.A. Haxby and R.C. Willey: "Often a coin will develop a toning or tarnish on its surfaces. Silver coins may tarnish in blues, purples, reds, greens and other colors of the rainbow. Copper or bronze coins may develop dull red, purplish-brown, olive or chocolate brown toning."
