A gorgeous design featuring Canada’s colourful transformation! Order today!

When summer's warm breeze yields to the chill of the autumn air, Canadians delight in knowing they have a front-row seat to nature's most famous seasonal transformation! Days grow shorter as the sun sits lower on the horizon, blanketing the countryside with a golden glow. The crisp air seems to heighten the senses, which eagerly take in the season's sights, sounds and scents: there's the trumpeting call of migrating geese; the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot; and the surrounding mosaic of orange, yellow, red and purple leaves that represent Mother Nature's last colourful hurrah before the quieter days of winter. This is Canada at its colourful best!

Affordable and colourful, this is the coin for you! Order today!

Designed by Canadian artist Tony Bianco, your coin presents an idyllic, lakeside view of Canada's autumn landscape. Colour over engraving re-creates the season's iconic mix of red, orange, yellow, green and brown foliage that transform the once-green surroundings and make Canada a prime fall destination! The mosaic of colourful leaves is beautifully reflected on the lightly rippled surface of the water, along with the purple hue of the hills that rise up in the distance. Near the water's edge, two Muskoka chairs invite us to linger longer in this tranquil setting, where the trumpeting call of Canadian geese (Branta canadensis) overhead is associated with the change of season and adds to this quintessentially Canadian experience. The reverse also features the engraved year "2017" and the word "CANADA". The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Did you know…
  • Not all maple leaves turn red like the one that adorns our flag! For example, the leaves of the silver maple (Acer saccharinum) tree typically change to yellow or a rusty brown.
  • Autumn's shorter day length causes deciduous trees to slow down and stop their chlorophyll production, which exposes the leaf's background pigmentation.
  • Weather conditions and location dictate the peak time for viewing fall foliage across Canada. Generally speaking, the transformation can begin in mid-September reaching peak in early-to-mid-October.
  • Canada geese follow the same migratory path each year, and some may cover 1,000 kilometres in a single day!

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.
