The reverse design by wildlife artist W. Allan Hancock captures a tender moment between two polar bears (Ursus maritimus). One polar bear nuzzles the other in a gesture that expresses affection and highlights the social bond between the pair. A balanced mix of colour and engraving brings the Arctic landscape to life, helped by various frostings that separate the mountains from the sea ice. In the sky, a colourful sunset is reflected on the open water below, where an iceberg adds a cool turquoise hue. The reverse includes the year “2019” and the word “CANADA”, both struck incuse. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

All three coins in this series are beautiful. Gorgeous colours and designs. I would love to see more like this

I was really looking forward to my first coin from this set. When I ordered the subscription I had just seen the first two and they looked so beautiful on the website I decided to buy them. Well, the bear coin just arrived today and I have to say I am really disappointed. The design is, of course, beautiful, but the colors are so saturated it makes it look cheap. Even the contrast is different. On the website, the bears almost look like they're smiling, it's really subtle and the colors are paler, the contrast not so harsh. It suits them beautifully. In reality, the bears drown in color and they look like their little one just died. The sky is so dark is suffocating them. I agree the coin couldn't look exactly like the picture, but the differences are way too big in this case. And to top it off, the last coin is ugly, like the artist just got bored and quickly made the design during his lunch break. The otters are badly posed, unnatural, and they seem to have a golden ribbon ? wrapped around them that looks ridiculous and out of place. On the up side, I like the box the coin came in..

When does the otter coin launch?

Hello and thank you for asking. The Sea Otter will be launched in May.

The specifications state "Composition 99.9% pure silver". I know most mints around the world produce silver coins made of 99.9% pure silver. However, I know that for years all of the silver coins produced by the RCM are composed of 99.99% pure silver. Is it an error in the listing, or are these coins really just 3-nines: 99.9% pure silver. Thanks.

Hello and thank you for asking. The coins are indeed 99.99% pure silver.

When will the design of the other two coins in the set be available?

All three coins can now be viewed on their website!

Hello and thank you for asking. The design of the other two coins will be available only when the coins launch.
