British Columbia
Maple Ridge Legion Branch 88 is Canada’s largest branch with over 2,600 members. This branch provides affordable housing for Veterans and seniors in the community through two housing developments built on partially donated land.
Yukon
Since 1927, Whitehorse Legion Branch 254 is one of the primary gathering places for veterans and residents in Canada’s North. The branch prioritizes education and has donated to schools and libraries across the territory.
Alberta
In 2018, Leduc Legion Branch 108 donated $10,000 raised from its annual Poppy Fund to Legacy Place Society, an organization that supports first responders and military members, including Veterans, throughout the province.
Northwest Territories
Inuvik’s McInnes Legion Branch 220 is a thriving branch with more than 600 members, and is located near a military hub at the town’s airport. In 2021, 210 active military families and 325 veteran families were living in the territory.
Saskatchewan
Nutana Legion Branch 362 is home to the Saskatoon Museum of Military Artifacts. The Museum, which features a sprawling collection of artifacts and memorabilia, is open to the public and run by volunteers.
Nunavut
The president of Iqaluit Legion Branch 168, who also served as the Legion’s first Nunavut district commander, visits schools in the community to talk about the importance of Remembrance with local youth.
Manitoba
St. Laurent Legion Métis Branch 250 is the only Métis Legion branch in Canada. In 2023, the branch partnered with The Red River Métis Veterans Department to host its second annual Indigenous Veterans Day ceremony.
Ontario
Brighton Legion Branch 100 holds a candlelit vigil every November 10th in honour of Remembrance Day, with all donation proceeds going to its Poppy Fund in support of Veterans. This annual event also prompted the creation of the town’s Army Cadet Corps.
Quebec
Mohawk Legion Branch 219 (Kahnawà:ke) is the first and only First Nations operated Legion branch in Quebec and was founded by 15 Second World War Veterans. The branch is also home to the traveling First Nations Mobile Military Exhibit, which visits schools and libraries.
New Brunswick
Shediac Legion Branch 33 built an eight-unit apartment building for Veterans, completed in 2021. Located right beside the Legion hall, it has two wheelchair-accessible units and two government-subsidized units.
Nova Scotia
Eastern Marine Legion Branch 161 serves 17 communities in the province, and maintains a Cenotaph and Remembrance Park, with its own custom Gate of Remembrance, as well as a garden outside its Legion hall.
Prince Edward Island
In 2024, Wellington Legion Branch 17 created an art installation of over 1000 hand-stitched or crocheted Poppies to honour Veterans. Made by volunteers across the province, some Poppies came all the way from Nova Scotia and Ontario.
Newfoundland and Labrador
Bay Roberts Legion Branch 32 operates Veteran’s Quay, a public marina located alongside its Legion hall. Established in 1997, the marina led to the creation of boardwalks throughout the town of Bay Roberts.

Since 1926, The Royal Canadian Legion has stood beside Canada's Veterans and their families. Through unwavering support, advocacy, and the promotion of Remembrance, the Legion has honoured those who have served while helping ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.
Founded by bringing together organizations dedicated to supporting Veterans of the First World War, the Legion has grown alongside Canada. As Canada's largest Veteran support and community service organization, it has evolved to meet the changing needs of Veterans, serving military and RCMP members, and their families, while remaining steadfast in its commitment to serving Veterans, fostering Remembrance, and supporting communities across Canada.

Supporting Veterans:
Did you know? The Legion’s Ontario Command, alongside Wounded Warriors Canada, runs Operation Service Dog—a program that has helped train and pair over 100 service dogs with Veterans living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Whether helping a Veteran transition to civilian life, navigate disability benefits, access financial assistance, or connect with vital resources, the Legion provides free support services to all Veterans and their families.
Advocating for Veterans:
Did you know? Through its sponsorship of the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR), the Legion supports the Veteran Health Research Scholarship program. In 2024, a $50,000 PhD scholarship was awarded to a student at Laval University to support research focused on mental health and trauma affecting Veterans.
The Legion advocates for the wellbeing of Veterans at the municipal, provincial/territorial, and federal levels of government—from benefits coverage to funding health research or ensuring lifelong financial security.
Promoting Rememberance:
Did you know? Each year, the Legion selects a National Silver Cross Mother. On behalf of all mothers who lost children serving Canada in a military capacity, she places a wreath at the National War Memorial during the National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa.
The Legion encourages Canadians to honour Veterans through acts of Remembrance. Every November, the organization runs the annual Poppy Campaign and organizes the National Remembrance Day Ceremony.
Serving Local Communities:
Did you know? The Legion provides aid and shelter during emergencies. For example, in 2017, branches in B.C. helped residents impacted by that summer’s wildfires and, in 2001, the Gander, N.L. branch became a temporary home for passengers who were diverted to Canada during the September 11 attacks.
Each branch makes a big difference. With membership open to all, including civilians, these branches offer a space for residents to gather, volunteer, and organize—directly contributing to stronger, more connected communities.
Youth Engagement:
Did you know? The Legion’s annual National Youth Track and Field Championships is Canada’s only track and field competition for U-16 and U-18 athletes. In 2023, the Games Ambassador was retired Veteran and Invictus gold medalist Michael Trauner.
As one of the largest supporters of community youth activities in Canada, the Legion passes on its values and the importance of Remembrance to younger generations through leadership and education initiatives, sports programs, and partnerships with youth organizations.
