The Royal Canadian Mint is hiring a Director, Public Affairs, Government Relations & Stakeholder Engagement who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer (CIO), the Director, Public Affairs and Stakeholder Relations, is responsible for establishing and overseeing the strategic planning and operational requirements of the Mint’s public affairs, stakeholder engagement, corporate communications, media relations and issues management functions. The Director leads a dynamic team that ensures and delivers consistent, clear and creative strategic communications on behalf of the organization. The Director acts as the main point of contact for the organization’s shareholder, as well as for external stakeholders. The Director consistently works to fulfill the organization’s commitments in a manner consistent with its mission, vision and values.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an effective stakeholder engagement plan in alignment with the Mint’s strategic goals.
  • Lead issues management responses across the organization.
  • Co-ordinate and conduct proactive media outreach.
  • Lead crisis communication in emergency response scenarios, co-ordinated through the Enterprise Risk Management Team.
  • Lead external and internal stakeholder engagements aligned with the Mint’s strategic plan.
  • Coordinate the development of aligned narratives that showcase the Mint’s priorities and values.
  • Coordinate public affairs events, conferences and launches.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in related area or an acceptable combination of education and experience related to the job.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related business experience in public affairs, stakeholder engagement, corporate communications media relations and/or issues management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive management and or leadership experience.
  • Ability to act with integrity, tact and diplomacy at all times to ensure the Mint’s mission, vison and values are communicated through the right channels.
  • Exceptional communication skills while working under pressure in a fast paced highly visible role.
  • The ability to manage concurrent demands from a variety of stakeholders and meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Ability to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders and build meaningful mutually benefiting relationships.
  • Proven ability to develop, analyze, interpret and provide strategic advice on a wide range of issues and areas of focus.
  • Full bilingual proficiency in both official languages (English and French).
