The Royal Canadian Mint (The Mint) is hiring a Tourism and Event Coordinator who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Director Sales, Customer Solutions, the Tourism and Event Coordinator will be responsible for working with the Mint tourism partners and local community businesses in an effort to drive foot traffic into the Ottawa, Winnipeg boutique & tour locations, in addition to any other remote retail opportunities.  The incumbent will also develop and implement strategic marketing plans, plan and facilitate activities, act as a single point of contact for outside businesses looking to engage with the Mint in an event or tourism capacity.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma in Tourism, Hospitality or Marketing preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within the tourism industry
  • Experience attending meetings, seminars, conventions, and workshops to promote products and services or gain further knowledge, stay informed of the changes in the tourism industry, and exchange information
  • Experience creating customer focused event experiences through the planning and implementation of pop-up shops, public events and cultural programming

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (evenings, holidays and weekends when needed), assist and backfill coworkers
  • Must be able to travel occasionally for events and meetings
  • Ability to oversee and assist with room set-up and takedown for internal and external events, including lifting to up to 50 lbs. and long periods of walking and standing
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal in both English and French
  • High level of flexibility, motivation and enthusiasm
  • Proven ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Highly mature individual with good judgment, creativity, initiative, sensitivity and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to establish and foster good relationships with stakeholders, the travel trade, hospitality trade, and regional tourism partners in the Winnipeg and Ottawa areas
  • Bilingual (English and French) mandatory

Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Administration and coordination of end-to-end events in Ottawa, Winnipeg and various locations across Canada, including but not limited to assist with the development of marketing plans, event materials and documentation, logistics and event evaluation
  • Preparation and maintenance of annual event calendars and related publications
  • Event and tourism packages promotions, maintenance of tourism promotion websites and coordination of industry partnerships in website ventures, and social media channels
