Canada’s most famous forest flora is a thing of beauty in this exquisite two-coin set that displays unparalleled craftsmanship. Superbly struck in 99.999% pure gold—the world’s highest level of purity for a gold coin—both coins share a timeless portrait of maple leaves that are every bit as detailed as a botanical illustration. And for added elegance, the most prominent leaf is highlighted with platinum plating on one coin, allowing its natural beauty to shine brighter than ever.

They are two of the world’s purest gold coins, each crafted from 99.999% pure gold (five 9s)! Don't be disappointed, order today!

Special features:
  • CLASSIC CANADA! Part collectible, part work of art, this two-coin set features a timeless, sophisticated design that befits one of Canada’s most prominent national icons.
  • 5 9’s PURE GOLD! Both of these high-denomination coins are magnificently crafted in the world’s highest level of purity for a gold coin: 99.999% pure gold, or ‘Five 9s.’ The Royal Canadian Mint is the only mint in the world to offer this level of gold purity.
  • SELECTIVE PLATINUM PLATING ON ONE COIN! For added elegance and a touch of visual contrast, a selective application of platinum plating highlights the largest, most prominent maple leaf on one coin.
  • PRISTINE PROOF FINISH! Your impressive collectible leaves a lasting impression as the crisp lines and meticulously engraved details are luminous in a pristine proof finish.
  • INCLUDES SERIALIZED CERTIFICATE! The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins.
  • LOW MINTAGE! Limited to only 175 coin sets worldwide.

Both coins in your set share the same reverse image by Nathalie Lagacé, featuring a wealth of finely engraved details that give the maple leaves a life-like appearance. Like a botanical illustration, three different sizes of maple leaves are naturally positioned along the branches that nearly stretch from the bottom rim to the top, where two double-winged fruits (samaras) extend outwards on slender stalks. While the two smallest leaves have curled outer edges, the largest, most prominent maple leaf offers an unobstructed view of its defining features: the overall shape, its toothed margins, and the deep-set veins that run through each lobe towards the pointed tip. On one of the two coins, this large leaf is further enhanced by a selective application of platinum plating that provides contrast next to the gold. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Did you know…
  • The Royal Canadian Mint is the only mint in the world to offer a gold purity of .99999 (a.k.a. 99.999% pure gold, or ‘Five 9s’)! It’s the highest recognized purity level in the world — in fact, 100% pure gold would be too soft or pliable for an engraved coin.
  • A fixture on all Canadian circulation coins issued between 1876 and 1901, the maple leaf continued to grace the reverse of the one-cent coin until 2012.
  • Known as a samara, each half of the maple’s double-winged fruit (seen on the reverse) often litters the ground in late summer and early fall, when one might playfully toss it and watch it spin back down to the ground. This motion is key to dispersing the seed: it allows the samara to remain airborne so that it may be sown farther away, where the resulting seedling and the parent tree will not crowd each other.
