SECOND IN THE SERIES! Mimics the look and feel of tile mosaic! Order today!

Along the coastal rivers of British Columbia, the annual salmon run draws a powerful predator whose appetite inadvertently makes it the steward of this ecosystem. Ursos arctos leaves no doubt about its fishing skills on the colourful reverse, where colour mosiactechnology transforms our wildlife portrait of the grizzly bear into a beautiful, collectible piece of mosaic art. We've taken an innovative, tile-by-tile approach to creating the design on the reverse. With the exception of the polished silver rocks in the water, the 130+ individually engraved "tiles" that form the portrait each feature a striking colour application with varying degrees of translucence, while engraved "grout" lines mimics the look of raised tiles.

Another gorgeous coin for someone who enjoys mosaic tile! Order today!

Special features:
  • STILL A FIRST! Colour mosaic, a new coin technology, mixes engraving and different paint effects to create a colourful mosaic artwork that fits in the palm of your hand!
  • PIECED TOGETHER LIKE TILEWORK! Over 130 individually engraved segments form the larger image of a grizzly bear at the edge of a salmon-rich river, complete with etched "grout" lines that give each "tile" a more raised appearance than a traditionally coloured and engraved coin.
  • A RICH VARIETY OF COLOURS! Different paint effects combine to give each segment a varying degree of colourful translucence—from dark, matte colours to glossy hues that partially reveal the shining surface beneath this colour application.
  • $15 IN SAVINGS WHEN YOU BUY THE SUBSCRIPTION! Save $5 per coin! While supplies last, order the 3-coin subscription to ensure you receive all three coins (each coin priced at $99.95) in the Canadian Mosaics series. Your credit card is charged only when your coin ships. Your three coins include:
    • 1st coin: Caribou (already shipping, available while supplies last)
    • 3rd coin: Cougar (ships in September 2018)
  • OUTSTANDING ATTENTION TO DETAIL! Complex engraving divides the larger image into segments that resemble pieces of coloured glass, all the while meticulously re-creating the grizzly bear's familiar features.
  • LIKE FILTERED LIGHT! Look closely at the colours—each one has a different degree of translucence, like light filtering through coloured glass!
  • INCLUDES SERIALIZED CERTIFICATE: The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins.
  • 1 OZ. PURE SILVER: Your coin is crafted from one ounce 99.99% pure silver!
  • LOW WORLDWIDE MINTAGE: Only 6,000 coins will be made available worldwide.
  • NO GST/HST: Your coin has no GST/HST.

The reverse image by Jori van der Linde features Colour Mosaic technology, a combination of engraving and paint techniques that transform a traditional wildlife portrait into mosaic art. More than 130 individually engraved, differently shaped "tiles" combine to form a side-profile view of a grizzly bear wading through a fast-moving, salmon-rich river. While engraved "grout" lines mimic the look of raised tile, different paint effects alter the intensity of each coloured segment, save for the proof shine of the rocks that have been "polished" by the fast-moving water. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.
