closeSwiftly travelling across Canada’s wild landscapes, the wolf (Canis lupus) makes its presence known when it releases its unmistakable howl into the night. Our exploration of Canada at night continues with this third coin in the Nocturnal by Nature series, using selective black rhodium plating to set the mood for a moonlit serenade.
A coin you will want to show to friends and family! Order today!
Designed by Canadian artist Claude Thivierge, your coin travels deep into one of Canada’s forests, to catch a glimpse of a species whose haunting cry defines the call of the wild. Black rhodium plating sets the tone for a nighttime encounter in a clearing, where, viewed in three-quarter profile, Canis lupus raises its head to the sky and releases its howl into the winter night. Behind the wolf, the coin’s polished silver surface is left unplated to mimic the light of the engraved full moon, which faintly illuminates the landscape below, and the wolf from behind. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

I love this coin! Great job on capturing a beautiful spectacle in nature & combining two different metals to give it great realism. Well done.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who had served in the Canadian Army. Chris has adopted the wolf as his symbol. When I first saw the coin I immediately thought of him. I received the coin and was truly impressed by the beauty of it. It was a hard thing to package it up and send it off to him but I'm certain that he will appreciate it. I may have to order another one for myself....:)

The first coin received had obvious rhodium plating aesthetic defects (below the moon and the right contour of the wolf) which seemingly surprisingly escaped the traditionally tight RCM quality control steps. RCM customer service was quick to send me a label to send it back in the original packaging and within a week the pristine replacement coin was received thru Canada Post in my community box this time (Purolator is unreliable and all confused about delivery to a house on a dirt road in a remote wooded area of our vast country- RCM should avoid Purolator at all costs to prevent irritation of precious customers.)

This is my 3rd in this series. Thought they were only producing the bat and the owl. Obviously I had to have the wolf.
