  • TRADITION AND ORIGINALITY: Collectors seeking classic themes with an unexpected twist will be eager to acquire this set. All five coin designs are reminiscent of the maple boughs that circulated in the Province of Canada, but each one has been individually designed to pay tribute to a different maple species—a rare feature that heightens the uniqueness of our second-ever large fractional set.
  • 5 UNIQUE REVERSES: Each coin portrays the leaves of a different maple species:
    • The sugar maple (1 kg)
    • Silver (1/2 kg)
    • Douglas (5 oz)
    • Black (2 oz)
    • And bigleaf maple (1 oz)
  • 5 UNIQUE OBVERSES: Each maple species featured on the reverse is also featured on the obverse in a unique background leaf pattern—an uncommon departure from one consistent obverse design that is normally repeated on all coins within a set. Highly collectible!
  • ROSE GOLD PLATING ON YOUR KILO COIN: Your 1 kg 99.99% pure silver coin includes rose gold plating, adding a special touch to this year's 2020 set.
  • LOWER MINTAGE THAN 2019 VERSION! This year, only 250 sets are available worldwide—don't miss out on this exceptional collecting opportunity!

Canadian artist Nathalie Lagacé has beautifully portrayed the distinctive character of five different maple species: the sugar maple (1kg), silver (1/2kg), Douglas (5oz), black (2oz) and bigleaf (1oz). A cluster of maple leaves dominates the centre of the coin and is finely engraved to illustrate the overall shape, veining, lobes and edging that distinguish each maple species from the others. Two boughs of maple leaves arch upwards along the outer edges of the design, creating a framework reminiscent of pre-Confederation circulation coins. A ribbon flows through each design in a unique way. It wraps itself around the central leaves, and weaves its way through the boughs, bringing a heraldic touch to the design as it ties all the elements together. A single, small leaf is engraved at the bottom of the design. It is flanked by the ribbon ends, with "2020" engraved above, and "CANADA" engraved along the upper edge of the coin. The effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth by Susanna Blunt with "ELIZABETH II D.G. REGINA" and "250 DOLLARS" engraved around the circumference of the 1-kilogram coin. The maple species featured on the reverse also appears on the obverse as a background pattern.

"Trees are a major part of my art – and my life. The moment I step into any wooded area, I feel a magical, very intimate connection with nature that allows me to go beyond the botanical features to uncover a tree's unique character. This project introduced me to five distinct maple personalities."               Nathalie Lagacé, Artist

"As engravers, we really want to do justice to the artist's designs. With two of us working on the same project, we checked in with each other regularly to make sure we were interpreting the drawings the same way. It's critical that all five coins have the same overall 'look,' even though they were engraved by two individuals."    Eric Boyer and Aida Alves: Engravers

"A set like this pushes 'teamwork' to a whole new level. I'm so impressed by the commitment and passion everybody showed in the way they came together. We're so proud of this set. It's gorgeous." Matt Eggink: Product Manager

Each of your five coins are encapsulated and your complete set is elegantly packaged in a wooden case with a custom insert to hold the five coins in place.
