Numismatics: 2 oz. 1936 Dot 10-Cent Coin
Your gold-plated 2 oz. version of the 1936 Dot 10-cent coin is 99.99% pure silver. It has a diameter of 54 millimetres and a nominal metal weight of 62.67grams. The reverse design by W. H. J. Blakemore features crossed maple boughs topped by St. Edward’s Crown, and a dot that denotes a historic transition period. The obverse features the effigy of King George V by Sir E. B. MacKennal.

Bullion: 1 oz. Silver Maple Leaf (SML) Bullion Coin
Your bullion coin is minted with one troy ounce (31.11 g) of 99.99% pure silver and has a diameter of 38 millimetres. On the reverse, the iconic maple leaf is paired with cutting-edge security features: radial lines, a micro-engraved maple leaf denoting the year of issue, and exclusive Bullion DNA™ anti-counterfeiting technology. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Canadian Circulation: $2 Canadian Circulation Coin
The world’s first glow-in-the-dark circulation coin has a diameter of 28 millimetres and a weight of 6.99 grams. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Foreign Circulation: Fiji 50-cent Circulation Coin
Your foreign circulation coin provided under licence from the Reserve Bank of Fiji was struck at the Royal Canadian Mint’s Winnipeg facility using multi-ply technology. It has a diameter of 26.50 millimetres and a weight of 6.5 grams. The reverse features a humphead wrasse (Varivoce), a coral reef fish and a protected species in Fiji. The obverse features a camakau, a traditional outrigger canoe.

Did you know…
  • In addition to the world’s first glow-in-the-dark circulation coin (included here), the Royal Canadian Mint released the world’s first coloured circulation coin in 2004: a 25-cent coin that featured a red poppy of remembrance.
  • The Silver Maple Leaf’s (SML) reverse design hasn’t changed much since its debut in 1988. But over the years, we’ve also issued several commemorative and special editions to celebrate the bullion coin’s success, including some tribute pieces that featured special privy marks.
  • In 2007, the Mint released an extremely limited number of the largest legal tender coins in the world: a 220-pound (100-kilogram) gold bullion piece with a face value of one million Canadian dollars. Certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest gold coin, the amazing million-dollar pieces are composed of 99.999% pure gold.
  • The Royal Canadian Mint has a long history of minting innovative coins for central banks, monetary authorities and other mints around the world producing coins and coin blanks for over 75 countries.
