An exceptional keepsake marking a significant event that shaped the remarkable reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

As the UK's longest-reigning monarch, Elizabeth II's role as queen was undoubtedly shaped by her experiences as a princess during the Second World War. A young 18-year old woman at the time, Princess Elizabeth was eager to make a positive contribution and joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service where she served as a mechanic and military truck driver. She was the first female member of the Royal Family to become a full-time, active member of the military, and in doing so, gained a unique perspective on the demands of such service. The impact of these personal experiences would later be reflected in the manner in which the princess inspected troops; with reverence, deep appreciation, understanding and support.

A Personal Perspective in Silver

9 years after this event, I would see Her Majesty in Ferericton and it began a life long interest in her and especially her relationship to Canada. Though it isn't a particularly remarkable vent (she does inspect a lot of troops), it does depict her life long affection for and dedication to the military services. This leaves me a bit suspect for objectivity regarding this coin, it I have never felt that I didn't get great results from RCM.

A history lesson of our current Monarch

Remembering Canada's war efforts have, overall, been well represented by the quality works put out by the Royal Canadian Mint and, this is yet another fine (dual purpose) example.

Coin is busy but nice

I bought 3 pks. One for my retired Military father, one for myself and one to break up and give to my young relatives. I love the idea of this coin and appreciate the salute to Military and family left behind. Coin is a little detailed to be totally attractive in a $2 coin but still very nice.
