An unforgettable maple celebration that will be part of just 300 collections worldwide. Order today!

Noble in stature, the bigleaf maple (Acer macrophyllum) bears the largest leaves of any maple. It is one of the tallest of the 10 Canadian maple species that, together, have represented our nation since 1996. This Pacific Coast maple furnishes its surroundings with a magnificent canopy that cycles from burgundy leaves in the spring to a final burst of gold in the fall. Its seasonal transformation is beautifully represented on the 2021 Maple Leaf Forever coin, which is selectively coloured with rose and yellow gold plating, and crafted from a precious metal more rare than gold and silver. With its special privy mark honouring the 25th anniversary of Canada's arboreal emblem, this must-have piece will add an exquisite maple celebration to your platinum coin collection.

"Trees are a major part of my art – and my life. The moment I step into any wooded area, I feel a magical, very intimate connection with nature that allows me to go beyond the botanical features to uncover a tree's unique character. This project introduced me to five distinct maple personalities."  Nathalie Lagacé, Artist

Did you know?
  • To find the bigleaf maple, head to Canada's West Coast. Named for its leaves that grow up to 60 cm wide, in Canada the bigleaf maple is limited to coastal British Columbia and Vancouver Island.
  • 99.95% Pure Platinum: Platinum was a major challenge for Europe's 18th-century scientists—they found it difficult to work with its high melting point and resistant properties. But these "obstacles" make platinum the perfect metal for many of today's high-tech applications such as fuel cells, electronic components, medical devices/implants and crucibles.

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded red wood lacquered case with black box.
