Designed by Curtis Atwater, your coin features a beluga surfaces among the ice floes of the frigid Arctic waters. Coupled with the imposing outline of the iceberg in the background, the whale's raised head and tail mimic the distinctive shape of the bold red maple leaf sunset, which is reflected in the waters below. Detailed engraving and selective colouring make the sunset glow and the Arctic waters shimmer.

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

Disappointed...a missed opportunity for greatness

After the first two in the series, I couldn't wait to see the last coin's design... and now that I've seen it my initial reaction is one of disappointment. When I think of the Arctic, the colour of Blue or Turquoise comes to mind with the cold air and crystal clear waters. So that's what I would assume the maple leaf would be coloured. Instead it was Red, which was already used on one coin. No longer is each coin unique in the set. Also, until I read the coin's description, I didn't realize the mountain in the background is actually an iceberg. Really could have defined/shaped it to better reflect this. I subscribed to the set, so the coin is on its way, but I'm leaning towards returning it as I liked the first two better and there isn't a special case for the series that I need to fill with this coin. Too bad, was really loving this series... if you're only buying this coin then it is a nice coin, but in the set it comes up short
