SECOND COIN IN SERIES! Night sky re-created with black rhodium plating! A must-have!

From the edge of the Arctic tundra to the Great Lakes, the little brown bat (Myotis lucifugus) owns the night by using echolocation to locate its insect prey. Our Nocturnal by Nature series continues its exploration of a nocturnal Canada, using selective black rhodium plating to set the tone for a night-time encounter with the diminutive flying mammal.

A coin you will want to show to friends and family! Order today!

Special features:
  • SECOND COIN IN SERIES!  Your coin includes the second-time use of black rhodium plating that lends itself perfectly to recreating the dark night sky and allows the moon's uniquely frosted finish to shine through.
  • INNOVATIVE! The light-and-dark contrast of your coin sets the perfect mood for a night-time hunt, while enhancing the natural silver shine of the engraved bat in the foreground.
  • STUNNING! Tilt your coin to alter your perception of the plating's hue, which varies from a dark black colour to a gun-metal grey, and adds to the contemporary look and feel of the overall design.
  • BRIMMING WITH DETAIL! Your coin is a dynamically layered design that is brimming with detail, thanks to the intricate engraving that re-creates the lunar craters and the bat's most distinguishing features.
  • INCLUDES SERIALIZED CERTIFICATE! The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins. Most of these are serialized certifications, meaning that each certificate is given a unique number, starting at 1.
  • LOW MINTAGE: Only 7,000 coins will be made available worldwide. Hurry and order yours today before they are all gone!
  • ONE-OUNCE 99.99% PURE SILVER COIN! Your coin is GST/HST exempt!

Designed by Canadian artist Calder Moore, your coin brings the viewer face-to-face with the little brown bat. Rhodium plating represents the dark night sky that fills most of the field—save for the full moon that is faithfully engraved at the centre. The enhanced shine of the coin's silver surface mimics the effect of lunar luminosity in this nocturnal setting, where a little brown bat suddenly makes its presence known overhead. The rhodium-plated hunter appears like a shadowy figure in the night thanks to a matte finish. And with moonlight spilling down across its back and outstretched wings, the bat's engraved features are faintly visible.

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.

Perfect for those who crave the dark.

I would like this coin to be smaller for use in jewellery. But I love it anyway. The whole series is nice.

It is a really cool coin

I really enjoy the design and that it glows

Outstanding design and appearance.

The packaging was nice, the contrast between the silver coin and the rhodium is excellent (and a clever design). The price seems high. One ounce of silver plus plating & packaging should be way less, unless the Canadian mint has huge overhead costs.Otherwise I do like the product and it was a Christmas gift for my niece. (for her wedding dowry) The Royal Canadian Mint seems to have better designs and more variety than the US mint.
