Keep the memory alive

Each $2 coin is a collectible keepsake to remember the sacrifices of our Canadian and Newfoundland men and women in the First World War.

With two minutes of silence each November 11, Canadians commemorate four years that changed the course of history. It is at the exact moment of Armistice, when the first modern war suddenly came to an end in 1918, that we silently reflect upon that conflict of unprecedented scale, and all who served in a war that was supposed to “end all wars.”

This year we honor the 100th Anniversary of the  Armistice 1918 with this special wrap $2 coin roll. Order today.

Special features:
  • INCLUDES coloured and uncoloured $2 COIN VERSIONS: Each roll comprises a mix of plain (engraved-only) and coloured versions, which share the same design.
  • HONOURS THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARMISTICE OF 1918: Each special wrap roll is guaranteed to include 25 of Canada’s 2018 $2 circulation coin, whose reverse design commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Armistice of 1918.
  • A SYMBOL AND COLOUR OF REMEMBRANCE: The selectively coloured $2 coin version features a symbolic touch of bright scarlet on the poppy, a widely known symbol of remembrance that was inspired by the Canadian poem In Flanders Fields.
  • PERMANENT SECURITY FEATURE: Also included on the reverse of both the plain and coloured versions are the engraved maple leaves, which are both a symbol of Canada and a cutting-edge security feature that ensures each coin’s authenticity.
  • COMMEMORATIVE SPECIAL WRAP: Your coin rolls are enclosed in a custom special wrap paper that thoughtfully complements the coin’s design and theme.
  • KEEP THE MEMORY ALIVE: Each $2 coin is a collectible tribute to Canadian and Newfoundland  men and women who through their courage and sacrifice paved the way to peace
  • LIMITED MINTAGE WORLDWIDE: Limited to 10,000 rolls worldwide.

Design:

Designed by Canadian artist Laurie McGaw, your coin’s design marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice of 1918 with a poignant pairing of two symbols of remembrance. Within the brass-plated inner core, a soldier’s helmet represents the end of the First World War and serves as a solemn reminder of the many lives lost during history’s first mechanized war. Below the helmet lies a large poppy, the official bloom of remembrance, whose bright scarlet colour is re-created on the selectively coloured coins. Two more poppies are engraved on the nickel-plated outer ring, which includes a special-engraved security feature, along with a banner bearing the bilingual words “REMEMBER”, “SOUVENIR” and the year “2018”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Colored Poppies

I never bought this package. After seeing there was possibly only one 1 colored poppy to a roll I was very disappointing. You would think that the Canadian Mint would want to "honour" the sacrifices of WW1 soilders and include coins with Red Poppies in the entire roll.

In the roll of coins, is each one wrapped individually?

Phyllis

Hello Phyllis and thank you for asking. The coins are placed in the special wrap but are not individually wrapped.

Chantal

do you get both coins in Armistice roll?

dueydo

Hello and thank you for asking. The roll includes at least one colored coin.

Chantal

How many coloured versions of the armistice 2 coin in the roll?

Rexall Ross

Hello and thank you for asking. We guarantee at least one coloured coin will be found in the 2018 $2 Special Wrap Roll: 100th Anniversary of the Armistice of 1918.

Chantal

are the $2 armistice coins available individually or in the 5-pack for $10?

Mary

Hello Mary and thank you for asking. They are only available in a set or the special wrap roll.

Chantal

Will both the coloured and non-coloured twoonie be put into circulation? And will the banks or other financial institutions which distribute them for circulation receive coloured rolls and non-coloured rolls?

Willie's Dad

Hello and thank you for asking. Both the coloured and non-coloured coin are put in circulation. The banks order the coins as per market requirements, but they are randomly packed. They cannot order just the coloured or just the non-coloured coins.

Chantal

I am an Australian citizen why is these only Canada and us .they would be a lovely addition to the Australian and new Zealand armistice coins

mark

Hello and thank you for asking. We used to ship to international addresses but for the time being the service has been suspended. We are looking into re introducing the service internationally but we do not know when it will be reinstated.

Chantal

Is there a way to request ALL coloured Armistice coins?

Unicorn

Hello and thank you for asking. Unfortunately, we do not sell only the coloured coins.

Chantal

How does a person know how many of each type of coin is in the roll without opening it and therefore diminishing the value of the investment?

Dale

Hello Dale and thank you for asking. The coins are inserted in a random fashion. We can only guarantee at least one is colored.

Chantal

Why are the coins not all colored ?

Diane

Hello Diane and thank you for asking. The decision to make both colored and plain coins is made by the Mint and the government of Canada.

Chantal

Will this armistice toonie be issued in $10 coin packs like you did with the Vimy toonie?

Kevin

Am disappointed that the mint is not issuing the "Toonie, Loonie and Quarter" coin packs. If you ever see it in your change you will be very lucky. I have been buying boxes of coins for over 6 years looking for certain coins for my Grandkids coin collections. Buying the coin packs has been very helpful. When you buy 20 boxes of Quarters over time to get the colored poppy,(you get maybe one/box) it gets to be a bit much. Maybe the Mint should try finding special coins in common change.

Gayle

Hello Kevin and thank you for asking. This year only the special wrap roll and the Armistice Commemorative Collector Keepsake are available.

Chantal

Hi Kevin: I am also disappointment that the mint has chosen not to issue the $10.00 coin packs and have advised RCM of my disappointment. I would encourage you (and all others looking for the 10 pack) to do the same. Thanks,

Dumas
