The Mint is hiring a Manager, Production Planning in Winnipeg who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Operational Performance, you will play a key leadership role within our state of the art manufacturing facility. This is an opportunity for a collaborative and forward‑thinking leader who enjoys turning sales orders and forecasts into clear, achievable production plans and who is motivated by making a real impact on people, processes, and customer outcomes. In this role, you’ll manage a small, skilled planning team that will directly support the delivery of high‑quality products on schedule while balancing capacity, inventory, cost, and operational priorities across a diverse product portfolio. You’ll collaborate closely with Operations, Technical teams, Sales, and colleagues in Ottawa to support a unified planning approach and adapt to changes along the way. Just as importantly, you’ll help foster a workplace culture grounded in safety, inclusion, engagement, and continuous improvement, where people feel supported to do their best work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Champion health and safety by upholding safe work practices, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture where safety is a top priority.
- Foster an inclusive, and accessible workplace that promotes employee engagement, teamwork, and collaboration.
- Beginning with the quoting process, convert customer sales forecasts and opportunities into production and material requirement schedules .
- Identify planning and capacity risks early and recommending practical mitigation strategies.
- Develop and oversee daily production schedules using Lean planning principles.
- Working closely with Production Managers and Operations leaders to align priorities and support execution.
- Partner with the Ottawa planning team to deliver a cohesive One Mint production plan.
- Lead weekly production status discussions and advise on plan adjustments.
- Establish performance metrics and clearly communicate results and outlooks to stakeholders.
- Support trials, new products, and process changes by assessing capacity and execution impacts.
- Build strong relationships across teams to drive shared success.
This position requires you to work from the Winnipeg location five days per week.
Requirements
Languages Requirements:
This position requires an advanced level of English proficiency. Proficiency in multiple languages is considered an asset.
Education & Designation:
- Technical diploma or University degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
- CPIM certification (an APICS organization designation) is considered an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of related business experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience managing people and/or leading teams as a Project Manager.
- Experience with forecasting, data-mining and data analysis and translating findings into crisp and concise reports for senior leaders of an organization.
- Proven track record of implementing business improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste.
- Experience in working with an ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred).
- Experience and knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma manufacturing principles.
- Effective communicator able to engage and influence a diverse group of stakeholders to successfully execute production plans to meet customer requirements, identify and resolve any conflicting priorities.
- Significant experience in a unionized manufacturing environment with a focus on health and safety and continuous improvement.

- Proven ability to motivate, coach and develop employees to foster a safe and inclusive work environment.
- Excellent leadership, team building, negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
- Capable of developing strategies and action plans in concert with strong change management skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Suite, and a working knowledge of artificial intelligence technologies.
- Ability to respond effectively under pressure, including situations such as equipment failure, employee injury, or cost control challenges.
- Ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities in a changing environment.
