The Mint is hiring a Manager, Technical Services who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Technical Services, you’ll lead a skilled team of tradespeople and professionals responsible for efficiently maintaining production equipment at the Winnipeg facility. Working alongside another Manager, Technical Services, you’ll share accountability for a team of approximately 37 employees while fostering a culture of safety, inclusion and professional growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing and motivating a multi skilled work force (Electricians, Millwrights, Power Engineers and Machinists) in supporting operational activities to achieve high efficiency performance and excellence.
  • Champion health and safety by upholding safe work practices, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture where safety is a priority.
  • Effectively achieve established objectives, including performance and attendance management, recruitment, and administration of the collective agreement.
  • Deliver on approved operating plans and objectives, adapting processes and procedures to mitigate risks and proactively address challenges that impact the business unit.
  • Recommend solutions and evaluate program and service performance using analytical and evaluative thinking.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish shared goals and drive organizational success.
  • Establish and champion equipment reliability, including standardization to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Find and implement opportunities to reduce cost and improve efficiencies of processes in support of production.
  • Managing the annual training plan to ensure employee’s development and technical skills required are available to support our technologies.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all policies, regulations, guidelines and best practices.
  • Promotes and demonstrates the organizational values to create a positive and respectful working environment.

  

This position requires you to work from the Winnipeg location five days per week.

This selection process may also qualify you for other positions with similar requirements and qualifications.

Requirements

Languages

  • English proficiency is essential. Bilingualism is considered an asset

  

Education

  • University degree or technical diploma in related area or equivalent experience, trades ticket, or other related industrial / technical training also considered
  • Professional Engineering designation, technical accreditation, or trades certification is considered an asset

  

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of related business experience in Industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading in a high performing Maintenance planning and work management culture
  • Previous leadership or management experience required, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Operational experience and knowledge regarding Health and Safety in an industrial environment

  • Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills to develop and motivate a high-performance team in a safe, inclusive environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading technical projects with strong project management skills.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and machining concepts, along with relevant trade legislation
  • Creative thinker and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Results-driven, with the ability to analyze KPIs, implement improvements, and drive root cause solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly and concisely convey information, build relationships, and collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to make decisions with sound judgement and execute on decisions with quantifiable results
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with D365 and AI knowledge considered assets
  • Ability to perform under pressure and respond effectively to operational challenges such as equipment failure and cost control
