The Mint is hiring a Senior Manager, Treasury Operations who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Treasury Services, the Senior Manager, Treasury Operations oversees the treasury management activities including precious metal, foreign exchange, capital market and trade finance activities, and is responsible for monitoring the RCM’s cash position as well as the corporate and merchant banking. Furthermore, the Senior Manager engages and establishes strong working relations with internal and external stakeholders and is responsible for fostering a cohesive and collaborative work environment. The incumbent is responsible for leading a team of approximately 2 people and will serve as the primary back-up to the Senior Director, Treasury Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage corporate cash flows to ensure that operating dividend and capital requirements are met
- Lead the analysis, assessment and investment of surplus funds in accordance with The Mint’s Short-Term Investment Policy
- Oversee and assess foreign currency risks across the organization and manage these risks in accordance with The Mint’s Foreign Currency Hedging Policy through the execution of foreign currency hedge transactions
- Identify, analyze, assess trade finance activities and the associated counter-party risks and apply the appropriate financial tools and techniques to mitigate risks to the organization
- Manage and maintain the Delegation of Authority Policy for the Mint including providing policy interpretation and communication to stakeholders
- Manage and leverage relationships with financial institutions who provide goods and services to the department. Identify, review and implement treasury and banking systems/ services which improve efficiencies and controls costs
- Lead the development and publishing of periodic treasury reports and dashboards that are distributed to various stakeholders
- Lead and mentor a small team of direct reports by setting context and direction, defining accountabilities and establishing boundaries for decision making and approvals
This opening is to be filled on a hybrid working arrangement, and the incumbent will be required to work from the Ottawa location generally on an average of 3 days a week which could change based on operational requirements.

Requirements
Languages Requirements:
- An advanced level of bilingual proficiency in both official languages (English / French) is required at the time of hire. If a bilingual candidate is not identified, other candidate language profiles may be considered in accordance with the Mint’s Staffing Policy
Education & Designation:
- University degree in a related area such as finance, commerce or economics. Other relevant degrees and substantial experience may be considered
- Professional designation (CFA, CPA, CTP) is an asset
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of related business experience with five (5) years in corporate treasury
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive management experience
- Corporate treasury and cash management experience including familiarity with corporate banking, capital markets, foreign currency risk management, and trade finance
- Experience with precious metal trading and leasing
- Experience with various electronic platforms pertaining to corporate banking, trade execution and treasury management
Additional Qualifications:
- Knowledge of rules, regulations and compliance matters pertaining to corporate banking, capital markets, foreign currency and trade finance
- Knowledge of internal controls associated with treasury and finance processes
- Proven ability to negotiate, influence and persuade others to facilitate change management
- Policy writing skills
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong program management, organization, conceptual, intuitive, problem solving and multi-tasking skills and abilities
- Strong and broad business acumen, financial and non-financial analytical skills
- Proven ability to deal with sensitive and/or confidential information
- Proven ability to prepare and deliver presentations and training to a diverse group of stakeholders
- Proven ability to prioritize and deliver under tight timelines
