The Mint is hiring a Senior Quality Systems Engineer who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Quality Systems, the Senior Quality Systems Engineer is responsible for investigating and addressing all quality related issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Auditing

  • Perform periodic site audits of key suppliers and products
  • Perform internal audits of the Mint’s processes and products
  • Identify non-conformances and implement corrective actions

Address Supplier and Internal Quality Issues

  • Work with supplier to recoup the costs associated with supplier issues
  • Work with Engineering team to ensure requirements are clear and understandable
  • Evaluate and disposition suspect supplier and internal material/parts
  • Use SPC and PPAP to evaluate process performance

Foster/Develop Relationships with Key Suppliers

  • Share best practices and information
  • Work with suppliers to standardize procedures

Recording, Tracking and Reporting on Supplier Quality Levels

  • Managing supplier defect rates and supplier charge backs
  • Work with suppliers to eliminate defects through formal and informal feedback/corrective actions
  • Update and maintain forms and procedures which support the tracking and reporting of supplier problems, develop and implement new procedures, forms data bases as required

Training and Mentoring

  • Maintain/Enhance CMM Training Program
  • Train employees on SPC and measuring techniques
  • Help mentor Quality Systems Engineer

Management of Quality Management System

  • Help support and maintain the ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System

Continuous Improvement

  • Perform root cause analysis and employ problem solving techniques to resolve process problems
  • Assist in the implementation of auditing techniques and process control plans
  • Value stream mapping of the processes and participating in lean projects to improve productivity at the Mint
  • Participating in Kaizen projects

Requirements

Languages Requirements:

  • English proficiency is essential

 

Education & Designation:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Member of an accredited Association of a Provincial Professional Engineers (e.g. E.G.M.) or eligible to become a member

 

Experience:

  • Must have 8 to 15 years of progressive hands-on Quality and/or Process Engineering experience
  • Must be familiar with lean concepts and terminology
  • Must be familiar with Quality Management System (ISO 9001)

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Sound knowledge of metrology, root cause analysis, data analysis and problem solving techniques
  • Communicate clearly and with conviction to ensure exchange of information and execution of desired outcomes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD & T)
  • Working knowledge of measurement equipment and techniques
  • Demonstrated skills in reporting, organization, facilitation, and training are required
  • Ability to function in a team-based environment while identifying process improvement, quality issues and supplier performance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic quality tools and techniques, understanding of FMEA, flow charts, control plans, SPC and variation reduction
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset
