About
Engraved in exquisite detail and set against the backdrop of the Canadian Arctic
With about 2.4 million caribou roaming freely through the vast Canadian wilderness, our nation is home to one ofthe world's largest populations. Native to Canada, four subspecies of Rangifer tarandus occupy tundra and boreal zones spanning from the west coast to Newfoundland, and from the USA-Canada border to Ellesmere Island. As exceptionaltravelers, caribou cover more ground in their migrations than any other land animal: in fact, some ofCanada's caribou populations travel up to 5,000 kilometres each year.

Designed by Canadian artist Trevor Tennant, your coin features a male and female caribou standing together, set against the backdrop of the Canadian Arctic. The large male stands with his front left leg lifted, antlers presented to stunning effect, his powerful neck and largehead lowered slightly as it seems to sniff the air. Behind him a female caribou looks across the broadriver, her head and antlers rising through the centre of the image. In the background, the river flows toward the horizon, bisected by an island; and further beyond rise foothills that give way to jagged mountains. The reverse is also engraved with the word "CANADA."
Packaging
Your coin is encapsulated and presented in custom maplewood box lined with flock and protected by a blacksleeve.
