A Mint first: Dual plating on a big, multi-faceted maple leaf!
You've never seen Canada's national symbol quite like this. The 2021 instalment of our Maple Leaves in Motion series is our first coin to feature dual plating (yellow and rose gold) on a large multi-faceted design, and the result is stunning.
Viewed from every angle, the engraved facets gently rise and fall to give the maple leaf a more dimensional shape that plays with light. These engraved shapes are also plated with either yellow or rose gold to create a luminous colour contrast that truly stands out – just like Canada's maple trees in the fall.
What better way to kick off a yearlong 25th anniversary celebration of Canada's national arboreal emblem, the maple tree!
- A kick-off celebration. This 5 oz. 99.99% pure silver coin is the first of several 2021 coins that celebrate the 25th anniversary (1996-2021) of Canada's national arboreal emblem. A special "25" maple leaf privy mark marks the occasion on your coin's reverse, and on several more coins in our 2021 arboreal anniversary collection.
- Progress in motion'. The 2021 instalment of the Maple Leaves in Motion series features just one leaf, but its many engraved facets form peaks and valleys that play with light. The effect is heightened by the contrasting plating, resulting in a dazzling colour effect that invites repeat viewings.
- Special serialized certificate. The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins. As part of the 2021 arboreal anniversary collection, your coin is accompanied by a custom certificate that includes special colour elements and the anniversary logo.
- Previous coin sold out quickly. Only 1,500 of these stunning coins are available worldwide. It is an exclusive collectible and it's expected to sell out quickly. Order yours today!

A special arboreal anniversary:
It was 25 years ago (April 25, 1996) that the maple tree was officially recognized as Canada's national arboreal emblem. The anniversary of this famously Canadian symbolis one of our big themes in 2021, and on multiple coins (including this one), it is represented by a special "25" maple leaf privy mark.

A single sugar maple (Acer saccharum) leaf is the focal point of this design by Canadian artist Matt Eggink. Against a laser-engraved relief pattern, the maple leaf's multiple engraved facets are individually plated with either yellow or rose gold for high contrast and visual appeal. Ten more geometric shapes—one for each Canadian maple species—form a partial frame, while a special privy mark denotes the 25th anniversary (1996-2021) of the maple's designation as the official national arboreal emblem of Canada. The selectively plated obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
