A FIRST! An enamelled platinum coin! Order today!
Platinum will not tarnish. Neither will the allure ofthis exclusive coin. It’s our first platinum coin to be selectively enamelled and features leaves from the silver maple. This fast-growing tree was a favourite among settlers seeking a steady supply of wood. Some even claimed its sap was the sweetest, but its yield too small to be viable. The silver maple’s leaves are beyond compare. Their distinct contours stunning in translucent red enamel.

Design:
Canadian artist Celia Godkin has captured the distinctive beauty of the silver maple leaf—the deep indentations between its lobes, irregular teeth and defined points. Three leaves hang from the sprig in the background, each becoming smaller to enhance the sense of perspective. The large leaf's delicate veining is clearly visible through the translucent red enamel that brings a dynamic touch of autumnal colour to the design.
Did you know…
- Platinum was a major challenge for Europe’s 18th-century scientists. They found it difficult to workwith its high melting point and resistant properties. These “obstacles” make platinum the perfect metal for many of today’s high-tech applications such as fuel cells, electroniccomponents, medical devices/implants, and crucibles.
- Platinum is one of the heaviest and rarest precious metals. An average 130 tons are mined each year, compared to 1,800 tons of gold. It takes 10 tons of ore and five months to produce one ounce of platinum bullion.
Packaging:
Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded red wood lacquered case with black box.
