    Established in 1946, Fender® has become a cultural icon in its own right and champions THE SPIRIT OF ROCK-N-ROLL® for all music lovers, from young guitarists just learning to play to legendary musicians.

    In Fender®’s early days the right type of tint and varnish was hard to come by. Thanks to the very same paint used on the famous ’56 Chevy, Surf Green became one of the fan-favourites for the Stratocaster®.

    When the Stratocaster® was first introduced to the market, a sunburst finish was the standard issue. In 1957 the first official “custom color” Fender® guitar was launched for an extra charge - Fiesta Red!

    Beginning in the 1950’s slick colors on new cars was all the rage - for Fender® guitars as well! Daphne Blue began as a GM Cadillac color in 1958. It became a popular color for the Stratocaster® just two years later.
