The reverse of the coin designed by Royal Canadian Mint engraver William Woodruff depicts a she wolf standing on aridge calmly surveying the valley below.
While wolves have already been exterminated in many places, there may be less of such excesses in the future, due to greater awareness among hunters and others, that in wilderness ecology, wolves play an important role by preying on big game animals and helping to control their population.
Special features:
• Fourth coin in the series of smallest goldcoins ever produced by the Royal Canadian Mint
• Previous two coins in the series the 2004 Moose, 2005 Voyageur and 2006 Cowboy
Packaging:
Coin encapsulated and presented in a maroon clamshell caselined with flock and protected by a black sleeve.
