The Royal Canadian Mint is hiring a Program Manager, Business Continuity Management who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Risk Management, the Program Manager, Business Continuity Management (BCM) is responsible for implementing business continuity policy, standards, processes and training programs.  In addition to working closely with the IT department, this position will interact frequently with all the business areas of the organization and at various levels providing great exposure. The incumbent will coordinate and support all the activities of business continuity planning in addition to enabling internal alignment with IT disaster recovery plans and emergency preparedness.

This opportunity could be filled in either Winnipeg or Ottawa locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain business continuity policy, standards, and processes in alignment with ISO 22301
  • Analyze and quantify various types of continuity risks. Engage business functions in Business Impact Assessments (BIA) to identify critical business resources and dependencies, determine recovery objectives and establish specific requirements for BCM.
  • Support business areas through the identification and evaluation of strategy options to be pursued in facilitating the recovery of critical business functions.
  • Guide and assist business functional leaders in developing and documenting business continuity plans, procedures, associated roles and responsibilities necessary to facilitate recovery of their critical business functions, ensuring that plans and procedures align seamlessly with defined continuity requirements and associated recovery strategies.
  • Implement and facilitate a coordinated response to a planned/unplanned event that disrupts the use of business resources or disrupts the performance of business activities. Enables the alignment of business continuity plans, the emergency response and crisis management plans.
  • Promote awareness of each of the continuity recovery plans, and work in collaboration with business functions to ensure that relevant training is conducted, as it pertains to understanding the recovery plans.
  • Work with IT team members to enable alignment between continuity/recovery plans with disaster recovery standards/plan. Provide assistance with the annual recovery test of critical business systems (Disaster Recovery Test).
  • In collaboration with business functions, develop, schedule and conduct business continuity program tests in accordance with preparedness targets.

Requirements

  • University degree in business or related area
  • Minimum of 7 years of related business experience
  • Professional designation or certification (eg. CBCP, MBCP, PMP, ISO 22301 lead implementer) an asset
  • Bilingual (English and French) preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with BCM frameworks and methodologies particularly ISO 22301.
  • Familiarity with Governance, Risk and Compliance as it applies to BCP/DR planning
  • Knowledge and experience in performing assessments and building business recovery plans aligned with the best practices
  • Strong documentation skills, including the ability to create detailed and well organized summaries of risk assessment findings that can be easily understood by stakeholders
  • Strong project management, organization, conceptual, intuitive, problem solving and multi-tasking skills and abilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner that creates confidence in his/her knowledge and abilities and helps foster mutually satisfactory resolution to control gaps and issues
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and drive tactical execution
  • Proven ability to prepare and deliver presentations and training to a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Poise and ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations
